Best Day Trips from San Juan: El Yunque, Culebra, Caves and More

San Juan is a strong base for day trips, but not every famous Puerto Rico destination belongs in a same-day excursion.

The best day trips are the ones that add a different landscape or activity without spending most of the day in transit.

For a first trip, El Yunque and the east coast are the easiest major choices. Culebra can work as an organized water day. The west and southwest generally deserve an overnight instead of a marathon return drive.
